What we collect
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a password (stored as a one-way hash — we never see your plain-text password). If you are a student accessing MAUKQ through a school, your teacher or school administrator may provide your name and a class code on your behalf.
When you use simulations, we record which simulations you have run, how long each session lasted, your quiz responses, your XP earned, and your mastery level per topic. This is the learning record that makes progress tracking possible.
We also collect standard server logs: IP addresses, browser type, device type, and pages visited. These are used for security monitoring and to improve platform performance. They are not linked to your identity for marketing purposes.
How we use it
Your account information is used to authenticate you, personalise your experience, and — if your school has a subscription — allow your teacher or school administrator to see your progress.
Your learning record is used to show you your own progress, to award XP and mastery levels, and to generate reports for teachers and parents who have access to your account. We do not sell your learning data to third parties.
Aggregated, anonymised usage data (for example: which simulations are completed most often, average session length by subject) may be shared with school partners and sponsors as impact evidence. This data cannot be used to identify individual learners.
Data storage
All data is stored on servers located within reputable cloud infrastructure providers operating under internationally recognised security standards. We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data transfers. Passwords are hashed using a one-way algorithm — no one at MAUKQ can recover your password.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
For learners under the age of 18, we apply additional protections: we do not use their data for any advertising purpose, we do not share individual learner data with sponsors beyond what is described above, and we require school or parental consent before activating a minor’s account.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct any inaccuracies, and to request deletion of your account and associated data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.
